WHAT THE CHURCH BELIEVES IN

The University Interdenominational Church upholds the following fundamental Christian truths:

  1. The divine inspiration, truth and reliability of the Holy Scriptures, in its entirety, as originally received. It further recognizes the Supreme authority of the Scriptures in all matters relating to Christian faith, doctrine and conduct (2 Timothy 3;16 Romans 16: 25-26).
  2. The unity of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit in the Godhead; and the sovereignty of the Godhead in creation, revelation, redemption and final judgment (John 1:1-3; John 10:30; John 14:10 and john 17:11, 22).
  3. Jesus Christ as the Son of God who took on human form, lived on earth, was crucified, died and was buried; bodily resurrected from the dead and ascended into heaven, where He is glorified and acting as our very own High Priest (Acts 1:9; Hebrews 4:14-16; 1 Peter 3:22; 1 Corinthians 15:4-8).
  4. The Universal sinfulness and guilt of the human race since the fall of Adam, rendering all persons, irrespective of race, nationality, sex or social status, subject of God’s wrath and condemnation (Romans 5:12; Romans 6:23)
  5. Redemption from the guilt, penalty and power of sin made possible only through the sacrificial death on the cross and the resurrection of out Lord Jesus Christ; mankind is thus justified by grace alone, through faith in Jesus Christ, and not by any good works done (1 Corinthians 14:2-3; Galatians 1:4, 1Peter 2:24).
  6. The power of the Holy Spirit in the regeneration of sinners, and the Holy Spirit’s empowerment of the believer to help him/her live a victorious life as a child of God. ( Titus 3:5; 2 Corinthians 5:17).
  7. The commission of all believers as God’s ambassadors to reach out to the whole earth with good news of the Saviour, Jesus Christ ( Matthew 28: 18-20; 2 Corinthians 5:17-20).
  8. The one holy true and universal Church, the body of Christ, to which all believers belong and are united in one faith and of which Christ is the head (Romans 12:5; 1 Corinthians 12:27; Ephesians 1:22-23).
  9. The expected return soon to earth of our Lord Jesus Christ, as promised in the Scriptures (Luke 21: 27; Matthew 26:64; Acts 1:11; Hebrews 9: 27-28).
  10. The bodily resurrection of the dead, who together with the living, will be subject to judgment by our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ ( John 6:40; Acts 25:15; 1 Thessalonians 4:16-17).
